90th Anniversary

Wow.... 90th anniversary celebretions are finally over. I had a really good time throughout this period of time which spanned over a week. Firstly, we had our Art exhibition, A Green Dot. My parter's and my work was chosen to be displayed and my dad simply could not believe it...thinks my art is lousy -_-. Oh well. Our pairwork is about how people waste recources at home :)

Next up was the Nanyang Gala Dinner that was held at Rafflescity Convention Centre. I took days to find a dress cos' it was a formal event, but in the end could not find one that could fit. I'm too small. So I just wore a purple knee-length skirt with a white blouse. The table I was sitting at had a lot of my friends and they all wore dressess that were formal and nice. I looked so casual. Anyway, the performance, especially the musical. MM Lee Kuan Yew and Mrs Lee were there too as Guest-of-Honour and he gave a speech which was in the newspapers the very next day. Our emcees were 2 news casters who were from NY. I never knew Kaira Gong was from NY either. She sang the National Day Theme Song last year on NDP... that's amazing.
The Student Council also organised games for 2 days and created a drink called Nanyang Gem. Nanyang Gem had ingredients that stood for different meanings like tao2 li2 man 3 tian1 xia4 for the peaches. It also had a total of 9 ingredients that represented our 90th anniversary.

On Friday, we had our 90th anniversary closing ceremony. On that day, we wore our 90th anniversary t-shirt which was red in colour. So the school was a sea of red. We assembled at the hall for the performance which was actually the musical that was performed at the gala night. Great job guys!

Oh yes.... I almost forgot the gifts to the school by our sec 4 classes. I can't remember all of them, but some of tem included magnetic whiteboard dusters for every class, a cacti for every class and a patchwork quilt to the school. The student council gift was the 90th anniversary t-shirt. The school also gave us a notebook that had a cover page that depicted nygh and our activities. Actually, for the 90th anniversary, quite a lot of things had been done for its preparation. We had our walls re-painted last year and we received new tables and chairs which are light blue and dark blue respectively. Previously we had grey ones. I like blue :D

yay... I m a Student Council Elect now... but kinda i m sad i m the onli one in my class elected. But thx to everyone who voted for us.... thx a lot!

heya. i think they will be telling us who will be in council tomorrow. o wells... let's just wait. These few weeks have been pretty busy for me due to campaigning, homework rushing out stuff, etc. But looking back, I havent really done anything for the compaign. seriously. All I did was design a poster, stuff a few sweets into a few balloons, pumped some balloons and pasted posters. It was the people around me who did so much more. My batchmates and friends helped me spread the word to vote for me... my batchmates spread the word to my cca seniors... my classmates stuffed 170+ sweets into 170+ balloons until their fingers were sore.... wrote "vote for 204" and drew smiley faces on the balloons... Kat did all the printing for the posters and most of the pasting with eewei... they gave out quite a lot of balloons too. A really big thank you to all of you. May sound clinche but really, without all of your help, our campaign might not have worked. Thanks for all of your support... you guys really cheered me on :) Through these few weeks, i really felt touched. seriously. steph asked jokingly, "you r touched right?" or sth like that when we were in the process of stuffing balloons. I said, "ya" jokingly too. It didnt sound very serious... but i was. Ireally hope kat, eewei and i will be able to get in... however, regardless of the result, the process will still be the most valuable to me.

Thou shalt put 100% in all things, and don't worry/regret about results and whatsoever acadamic issues. YOU ARE YOU! :D

Maybe i havent done so well for the first part about putting 100% in all things... but i'll stick to the second.
