guides... x tent...cooks badge
Saturday, March 24, 2007

hey. Had guides yesterday and was quite fun. We had to pitch this tent which was like $1500. We pitched dome tents and A-frame tents before, but we have never pitched a canvas tent. It was super heavy and much bigger (maybe abt 2.5m tall?). There were also so many steps to do, so many ropes and so many wooden pegs to mallet. The pegs were those 4-6 inches type. O well, it was fun pitching it anyway, with all the sec 2s and 3s (sec1s and 4s were doing sth else) from our campany crowding around cos we had 2 of these tents (so each company took 1). I think the tent was new.... cos it had the clean-and-new look. No la.. it was because all the wooden stuff like the pegs and dollies were very clean and did not have any stains, marks or stuff like that.

Oya, i m i/c with rachel for the cooking on enrolment ceremony which involves all the sec 2 guides.... so i'll be very busy. Ironically, i read the sms from my CL telling me that i was i/c when i was chionging to finish up my Home economics report. Anyway, we have to cook on the sec 1s' enrolment ceremony. The 1st draft is due on fri... o no...have meet up with all the sec 2 guides and chiong out the proposal. I think we'll be preparing food for abt 90 ppl... all the guides and mdms. o well.... must jia you.

sotong n camp

Hello! I m back from camp! kks, shall tell you what i did on sunday first in preparation for our dance durng the camp at yee phon's house. Everything was fine and we FINALLY completed the dance. The "interesting" part came when i was going home. I went to the wrong bus stop. I crossed the road when i was not supposed to. The worst thing was, it was raining.... HEAVILY and I DID NOT bring my umbrella. I also SLIPPED and FELL while jumping over the drain cos I was wearing SLIPPERS. Then, when I finally got to the bus stop completely drenched in rain water, I found out that I should not have crossed the road. and the road was no those kinda short ones, it was loooooong. My friend and I had to cut across the grass and all that. Anyway, I was deciding whether i should go back to the bus stop near yee phon's house but decided to take a bus together with my friend to her house and then change to bus 13 and go home. Luckily, by the time we reached her house, it had stopped raining.

ok, lets go on to camp

Camp was super cool! My class was in charge of the toilets together with class 2/12 though. Not very nice but thanks to our peers, it went pretty well for us. We had stuff like leadership games, telematches and all that. O ya, we had a personality test. I'm a CS. We also had a movie night at at the quadrangle and watched "the school of rock". After that, we went to sleep at the open aired quadrangle and under the starry night. We also did quite a lot of chatting (secretly). I chatted with stella until 11.45 while hearing the trs telling the sec ones in the classrooms to "keep quiet! the sec 2s can hear you from down stairs!" The only person we could here was the teacher though...lol.
On the last day, we had our drama concert. We did our fusion dance cum skit and listened to the judges. They said our hosts (for the dance competition in our skit) was very good cos they had great partnership and were super funny. They also said that we could dance well and that the our background music - a pop/rock/hip hope (dunno which) version of "swan lake", also showed fusion. That's good cos our theme was teamwork and leadership. Then, Mr shyam (yes, singapore's very own U. K. Shyam) said that we could dance well :) and that we would attract a lot of guys from across the bridge -_- Then, another judge also said she would not be surprised if there were a stampede on the bridge and we were like...lol (thinking) but also said that she wanted more drama instead of dance. Though we didnt get any prize for drama concert, we had fun and received 4 prizes for other stuff.

ok... not very happy at the moment. This morning my dad asked me to to go to the website and check the results for the big sweep. i went there and had totally no idea wat to do..... then my dad had sorta locked his bedroom door, so i just put the tickets at a side first and went for piano lesson 1-2 hrs later. Then, when came home, he asked me to check the toto results. So, I took the tickets up to compare with the teletext lottery screen. Most of his numbers did not match... at the very most, onli 1 digit on a few lines did. Then, he said that wat i was doing was useless and told me to take a pen to circle...and i was thinking, "wat for? dun match means dun match wat.... even if i used a pencil/pen/crayon or wateva to circle it would still not match." But i did anyway. When I came out, my sister was abt to leave, my dad said sth like...

dad: where are u going
sis: meeting my frens at east coast
dad: wat for
sis: barbecue
dad: be back by 10 arh (threatening voie)
sis: ok (a lil annoyed)
dad: stop bluffing yourself and me (reprimanding voice)
sis: I bluff myself for wat? I think you are the one who is bluffing yourself (gets a lil angry and walks out)
The conversation didnt really make sense to me (the bluffing part) but I was a lil unhappy abt how my dad was reprimanding my sis for no good reason.

dad (to me): take the pen and circle the number
me: wat number
dad: haiya... circle the number that matches! wat do you learn in school?! you must apply! onli noe how to study! where's the statistics?! dun be like your sister! she's bluffing herself thinking that she can go to this jc...that jc! she cant get into anywhere! look at rate she is going! (reprimands/scolds)
me: I dun play toto wat (getting upset)
dad: do i study at nanyang? then how come I have to drive you there every morning? are you unhappy abt doing this for me or are u unhappy abt doing things for me? tell me! (scolds)
me: if i dun play tot how am i supposed to know wat to do? (tears...)
dad: I said circle the number!
me: u dun have to say it like that wat (more tears...)
dad: next time when you go out to work u wont have a teacher to teach u everything! this is lifeskills!
me: I m not working wat! (ok... this one was stupid)

so i just circled the numbers that matched on the 4 pieces of tickets and went into the rm. And yes... i cried... I dunno why but my dad always have this ability to make me cry abt the slightest of things... maybe it's bcos of his tone. He has that effect on my sis too, she'll usually just storm off and lock herself in the room and complain to me while crying.... i m still crying now, but my dad and mum are outside watching tv. b4 the circling part, i was pretty annoyed already cos when i tried to find get the toto page, i asked him whether this (the number on the index pg) was the correct page number. Then he reprimanded, "you try la! everything also need me to tell you!" By the way, do you noe that the teletext changes its pages pretty slowly? and that it is quite irritating? hmph. dunno why my dad keeps reprimanding us these days... and dunno y i tend to cry once he does that. it seldom happens when other people reprimand/scold me. do u noe how infuriating it is when you get reprimanded/scolded for sth very minor? even asking a qn is like a crime. wah lao eh.... dun feel like doing my hw now. nvm... shall just try to do now.... and not go out. hmph.
